Xbox is rolling out suspend game feature to improve download speed and more

Xbox is rolling out a feature that allows you to suspend a running game to improve download speed while also keeping the game resumable. The feature is called “suspend my game“.

Eden Marie, engineering lead at Xbox tweeted out about the feature and more changes to the library menu.

This is an interesting feature as suspending a game will help the console allocate more resources such as storage and network bandwidth to download the game.

The best thing about it is that the game will stay resumable (or quick resume-able on Series X|S), meaning you can get back right where you left off after your download is finished.

She also mentioned two more banner tabs/categories added to the Full library menu. Namely “Recently Added” & “Leaving Soon”. As their names suggest, the recently added tab will show games that have been recently added to the service while the leaving soon tab will show games that will be leaving the service soon.

It’s good to see Xbox implementing updates like these to improve the efficiency and simplify the UI. We have also seen Xbox add multiple popular titles to its subscription service recently. The most recent being Outriders & the indie game Undertale.
