Team Velocity Gaming wins TEC Challenger Series 2

Team Velocity Gaming have won the LG Ultragear TEC Challenger Series 2 Grand Finals against Team Global Esports.

Team Velocity Gaming had faced Team Global Esports in the upper bracket finals where they suffered their first series loss. They lost 0-2 to Global Esports in a bo3 format.

This was the first time any team had beaten Team Velocity Gaming and was certainly a moment to remember. DEATHMAKER had topped the charts across both the maps in the bo3.

But, that was not the end for Team Velocity Gaming. They crawled their way back to the grand finals by beating Noble Esports in the lower bracket decider finals with a 2-1 score.

Grand Finals:

The bo5 grand finals was a breathtaking matchup, which saw Team Velocity Gaming and Global Esports go against each other, while the live stream chats were filled with supporters for both. Will Velocity Gaming take their revenge of the upper brackets loss by winning the finals? Or will Global Esports beat Velocity Gaming again to prove that they are just as good?

The grand finals kicked-off with Bind as the first map. Global Esports won the map with a close 13-10 score. skillZ from Global Esports was the map MVP with 28 kills to his name and no one even close. Right below him on the scorebaord was antidote with 18 kills.

Team Velocity Gaming fought back and took map 2 Split, 13-7. rite2ace was the MVP of the map with 20 frags.

Map 3, Haven was a little bit of ‘Deja Vu’ as we saw a similar 13-7 scoreline, again in favour of Velocity Gaming, and rite2ace again topping the leaderboard.

On map 4 Ascent, Global Esports decimated the opposition, winning the map 13-5 over Team Velocity Gaming and taking us to a 5th map. DEATHMAKER was the MVP with 27 kills.

At that point, both Global Esports and Velocity Gaming had won 2 maps each. In an bo5 series that just kept on giving, we went the distance onto the decider map, Split(5th Map).

On the decider map, Team Velocity Gaming showed no signs of weakness. Velocity Gaming won the pistol and went on a roll winning round after round. At a point, Velocity Gaming had a 10-0 lead over Global Esports on the final map of the series. The first half ended with a one sided 11-1 score. Tejas “rite2ace” Sawant secured the second pistol round with 4 frags taking Velocity Gaming to match point. Velocity Gaming was leading 12-1 and would then have 11 match points to close out the game.

Eventually HellrangeR from Global Esports was left in a 1 v 2 clutch against Vibhor and rite2ace. Unfortunately for Global Esports, HellrangeR lost the 1 v 2 and Team Velocity won the map 13-3.

And, that’s how Velocity Gaming won the TEC Challenger Series 2 with a 3-2 score. Velocity Gaming played a total of 8 maps that day and still finished the last one pretty convincingly. Antidote was at the top of the scoreboard with 17 kills his teammates excali and rite2ace following right behind.

With this grand finals win Team Velocity Gaming have definitely made a statement here. They still are the undisputed champions in the South Asian region. Also, at the time of writing, 4 out of 5 players from Team Velocity Gaming are in the top 25 of Liquipedia’s list for players with best KDR  (A list of 50 players with best KD ratio and with at least 20 maps covered in the last 30 days).

Thanks to the grit of both the teams, this was hands down one of the best grand finals in the Indian Valorant scene and one that will go down in the history of Indian Valorant Esports.

Global Esports did lose the bo5 but proved themselves as a worthy contender for the title of India’s best Valorant team. Global Esports is the only team to beat Team Velocity Gaming in a series match.

Both teams looked absolutely fantastic and gave their very best, but at the end of the day Team Velocity Gaming won the finals retaining the crown of the TEC Challenger Series. Velocity Gaming will have to defend their crown once again, going into TEC Challenger Series 3.

TEC will soon announce some exciting changes to their prize pool for the upcoming TEC Challenger Series 3.

“Overall, it’s just a great time to be involved with Valorant”, said Ishaan Arya, Co-Founder of The Esports Club during the livestream. “We couldn’t be happier with all the enthusiasm you guys, the fans, bring to the events and all the efforts the players put in…”
