Silent Hill creator leaves Sony to form Bokeh Game Studio
Keiichiro Toyama, creator of Silent Hill, the Siren and Gravity Rush series has left PlayStation to form a new gaming studio, called ‘Bokeh Game Studio’. Toyama has formed the new studio with some of his former colleagues who have also worked on games like Gravity Rush & Siren.
An announcement video was released by the studio on YouTube and other social media platforms.
Junya Okura, who has worked on Gravity Rush and the Siren horror game series, mentioned that now they have the freedom to create, but being independent comes with a lot of responsibilities.
“Until now, there was a company providing us with a work environment, where we would decide what to do from there. As we turn independent, we have to prepare everything ourselves. It is hard, there are responsibilities, but we have our freedom.”, said game director Junya Okura.
It was also announced that more former colleagues will be joining the studio soon. “Many people we’ve worked with in the past are joining us too. I’m convinced that we’ll be able to deliver something everyone will enjoy.”, said Kazunobu Sato, who has worked as a lead designer on the Gravity Rush series.

“First I want to fulfill our fans’ expectations, but at the same time, I want to go back and enjoy how fun it is to make games.”, says Keiichiro Toyama. This shows how excited Toyama is about the project.
The studio hasn’t announced any projects yet, but in the video multiple art concepts can be seen. It looks like a concept for some kind of a horror game.
We will till Bokeh Game Studio releases any other information about their debut project. Only then we will get a brief idea what the studio aims to do.
