Remastered classic LucasArts games are coming to Xbox Game Pass soon

Double Fine Productions has announced that three of their remasters of classic LucasArts games will be coming to Xbox Game Pass later this month.

All three games were 90s classics developed and published by LucasArts Entertainment. The company was acquired by Disney in 2012. Double Fine remastered all three games in three consecutive years. Grim Fandango in 2015, Day of the Tentacle in 2016 and Full Throttle in 2017.

Grim Fandango:

Grim Fandango is an adventure game set in the Land of the Dead, through which recently departed souls travel to reach their final destination. The story revolves around Manuel “Manny” Calavera, a travel agent and his attempt to save Mercedes “Meche” Colomar on her journey.

The game is praised for its story direction and art. A remastered version of the game was released in January of 2015. Point and click controls and directors’ commentary were the main additions beside the improved graphics.

Day of the Tentacle:

Day of the Tentacle is a sequel to Maniac Mansion where you will be taking over control of a trio, Bernard Bernoulli, Hoagie and Laverne in an attempt to stop an evil ‘Purple Tentacle’. You will be exploring different time periods through time travelling and will be solving puzzles based on time manipulation.

Full Throttle:

Full Throttle, is a biker adventure game developed by  LucasArts and designed by Tim Schafer. The game is set in a near futuristic world where the protagonist Ben, leader of a biker gang is framed for a murder of a motorcycle manufacturing mogul. You as Ben will seek to clear your and the gang’s name.

The game is Tim Schafer’s first game as a project lead, head writer and designer. Tim is the founder of Double Fine Productions, the development studio that remastered the three LucasArts classic titles that are coming to Xbox Game Pass later this month. He founded the company in 2000 after working for LucasArts for over a decade from 1989 to 2000. Back in the day, he also worked on the other two classics Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle.

All three games are coming to Xbox Game Pass later this month on October 29.

More and more gamers are going for the Xbox Game Pass subscription based service as it has become more stacked than ever with addition of new and old games for all genres and for all types of gamers. The service recently crossed over 15 million subscribers and with more games coming to the service in 2021, it looks totally worth the price.
