PUBG creator Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene leaves Krafton to form a new studio

Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene, the creator behind PlayerUnknown’s Battleground i.e. PUBG: Battlegrounds has left Krafton to form a new game studio of his own based in Amsterdam. The studio will be called PlayerUnknown Productions. Krafton is confirmed to hold a minority stake in the new game studio.

Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene is an experienced game designer who has worked on some very popular titles such as DayZ, H1Z1

I’m so very grateful to everyone at PUBG and Krafton for taking a chance on me and for the opportunities they afforded me over the past four years,” said Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene in a press release statement. “Today, I’m excited to take the next step on my journey to create the kind of experience I’ve envisaged for years. Again, I’m thankful for everyone at Krafton for supporting my plans, and I’ll have more to reveal more about our project at a later date.

He has also mentioned that the studio will not be working on a battle-royale genre game, instead

The website for PlayerUnknown Productions features a game trailer for a game called Prologue. Which the game’s website describes as “an exploration of new technologies and gameplay.” It also says that the aim behind making the game is “to give players unique and memorable experiences, each and every time they play.

The trailer was uploaded on December 2019 and since then there hasn’t been any other reveal yet, but maybe we might see more details about it revealed in the future considering that Greene has parted ways with Krafton.
