Load times for GTA Online on PC reduced after Rockstar implements fan made fix
Rockstar Games released an update yesterday which has considerably improved load times for GTA Online on PC.
The update came after a Github user who goes by the name ‘t0st’ found out a problem in one of the game files that caused a severe issue with loading GTA Online on PC. He also found a fix to the issue which reduced the loading time by upto 70%.
As we covered it earlier, Rockstar noticed it and confirmed that the issue in fact does exist and t0st’s fix can resolve it. Rockstar yesterday rolled out the update and since then people have experience improved loading times on PC.
This all was made possible because Rockstar decided to implement the fan made fix to reduce load times in GTA Online on PC.

LOADING ONLINE DIRECTLY FROM LANDING PAGE:
- BEFORE: 9 minutes and 38 seconds
- AFTER: 3 minutes and 15 seconds
I decided to check for myself, so I booted up the game. I went from the landing menu screen to GTA Online. I used to have load times of approximately 5-6 mins and guess what, it got reduced to 2 mins. This is a great improvement especially for those with medium spec PCs. I haven’t even installed the game on an SSD. Imagine the load speed on a NVME SSD after the update.
Some are also reporting that the update has broken the game for Xbox users. After the update Xbox users are experiencing crashes while switching between story mode and online. Some even say that their game crashes while saving after completing missions. Apparently, going into an invite only session has a lesser chance of the game crashing as compared to playing in a public session.
Seems like Rockstar would need to roll out another patch for the game to fix the issues with Xbox.
