During the session while talking about different markets for PUBG Mobile, Sean Hyunil Sohn said, that PUBG Mobile was not really targeted for Indian market, but somehow, due to Indian gamers, India became the top DAU [daily active user] country for PUBG Mobile outside China.

Later in the session, Akshat Rathee, Co-founder & MD, NODWIN Gaming asked Sean Hyunil Sohn, Head of Corporate Development at, Krafton Inc. about the possibility of PUBG Mobile making its way back in India.

Will we get our favourite game, India’s favourite game back?“, Rathee asked.

Sean Hyunil Sohn answered, “We don’t know yet“, which seems like the obvious answer considering there’s a lot of uncertainty in the situation. We now know that Krafton is taking steps from its side, but bringing PUBG Mobile back to India will require green flags from the other party as well, i.e. the Indian government.
We care about the Indian market greatly,” he said. “Definitely we will work hard to make it happen“.

With no ties with the multinational Chinese conglomerate Tencent, we might see PUBG Mobile make its way back to India eventually, but exactly when, no one knows.

Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, recently made a statement saying, many games played on mobile and other gadgets are “violent, explicit & addictive“. “PUBG was just one example of it, but criticising those games is not the solution. The solution is to create our own games and apps in line with #MakeInIndia for the world so that these are adopted world over for their basic values that are an integral part of our Indian ethos,” Javadekar said. The statement made by Javadekar about PUBG Mobile further puts the possibility of PUBG Mobile making its way back to India into question.
