IO Interactive is making the next James Bond game

The developer of popular assassination game series Hitman i.e. IO Interactive, is working on a James Bond game. Yes, a new James Bond game is in the making.

An announcement teaser trailer for the upcoming game was shared yesterday by IO Interactive.

The teaser doesn’t reveal much about the game except that it is called ‘Project 007’, which could even be the codename. But more information is revealed on the game’s official website and in a press release by developer IO Interactive.

“Featuring a wholly original Bond story, players will step into the shoes of the world’s favorite Secret Agent to earn their 00 [always articulated as “double-oh”] status in the very first James Bond origin story.”, says the game’s official website. This means the game will take us through the backstory of our beloved secret agent James Bond. This could even mean that we might see more Bond games in the future.

IO Interactive is collaborating with MGM, EON Productions and Delphi to work on this project.

The game is being developed on IO Interactive’s proprietary Glacier technology i.e. the Glacier engine. The game will be made for “modern systems and platforms”, which could mean the next-gen consoles and systems. We don’t know who will be the face & voice for James Bond in the game. Also, the game doesn’t have any specified release window yet. For now all we know is that the game is still in development.

While James Bond games have almost never been good in terms of gameplay & visuals, they were always fun to play. With IO Interactive being the developer, players can certainly expect a quality game. A game that does justice to the legendary fictional character we all have grown watching movies of and reading about.

Coincidental or not, a new James Bond movie called ‘No Time to Die’ is releasing in April 2021. This means it is likely that ‘No Time to Die’, will be released before Project 007’s launch. The movie is said to be Daniel Craig’s last Bond film.

Calling Project 007 “the most ambitious game in the history of our[IO Interactive] studio”, Abrak shows how excited IO Interactive is about this new game.

IO Interactive’s Hitman 3, will be releasing early next year in January. It is the final installation in the World of Assassination trilogy. The game also made it to our list of top 5 most anticipated upcoming games of 2021

IO Interactive has had quite a success with its Hitman game franchise & looks to replicate the same in Project 007. IO Interactive is a capable developer and one which can create a game that fits the James Bond persona. It’ll be interesting to see how the fans react to this new James Bond game once the official gameplay trailer drops.
