IAMAI & Games 24X7 to host ‘GATO 2021 – Digital Gaming: The Next Leap’ on 15th September

The growth that the gaming industry has witnessed in recent times has been nothing short of phenomenal. With digital consumption becoming mainstream especially during the pandemic, the demand for more diverse content has also grown across the sector.

Keeping the dynamic nature of the industry and its rapid evolution in mind, the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) & GAMES 24X7 are here with their annual conference on gaming- ‘GATO 2021’.

This year’s conference would be centred around the theme- ‘Digital Gaming: The Next Leap’ and is slated for 15th September 2021. The virtual conference is supported by Invest India and Media & Entertainment Skill Council. The Gaming Reporter has also joined GATO 2021 as a media partner.

The idea behind the conference is to bring the gaming community together, to shed light on the latest trends and insights in the digital gaming sector. The virtual event would also focus upon other important facets such as monetization strategies, best practices in the current scenario, and the growth prospects of the gaming ecosystem in the coming future.

The conference would include a mix of parallel sessions, keynotes and fireside chat and would host eminent stakeholders across different sectors.

The conference would host key government speakers and industry stalwarts including the likes of Sri Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce (I&C) Department & Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (ITE&C), Government of Telangana; Smt. Tanushree DebBarma, IAS, Revenue Department, Government of Tripura; Subodh Sachan, Director, Startup, and Innovation Promotion, STPI; Bhavin Pandya, CEO, Games24X7; Phil Spencer, Executive Vice President – Gaming, Microsoft; Navnit Nakra, Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, and Head of India Sales, OnePlus India; Adarsh Nair,  CEO, Airtel Digital; Rimini Makama Director, International Market Expansion,  Xbox Cloud Gaming; Ali Hussein, CEO, Eros Now; Rahul Puri, Editor & Founder, The Gaming Reporter, among others.

On being asked about the current scenario of the gaming sector in India, Ali Hussein, CEO, Eros Now shared his views, “Gaming is the true evolution of engagement in entertainment. Although it is still perceived as an evolving segment, gaming was one of the early movers to break away from the male-dominated niche corners of the world to become more mainstream and inclusive. Today, it is an integral part of our shared culture and value system. Moreover, the tech innovations in Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, and Virtual Reality space have further fuelled gaming’s adoption by delivering a unique social and immersive experience.

I believe that India, with its largest youngster population, diverse culture, and fast adoption of technology, will soon become the world’s most sought-after market for investors, gamers, and developers. Therefore, I won’t be surprised if gaming emerges as one of the most significant contributors to the Indian economy in the future. But for that to happen, we need to start having the right conversation now. I am confident that GATO will do what is precisely required – bring all stakeholders together to discuss and create a conducive environment for the entire gaming ecosystem to expand.”
