Grand Theft Auto is a sensational game that has been in the industry for the past 23 years. With the inception of GTA for MS-DOS and Windows, Rockstar Games impacted the gaming industry with an open world revolution. It’s not that the Rockstar games were the first one to start the open-world genre (Hydlide and The Legends of Zelda started the open-world scene in 1984 and 1986, respectively), but their approach was unique. With the creation of the real world with beautiful buildings, cars, and missions, the game attained much popularity.

Till now, this action-adventure game has 15 games (7 main series + 4 expansion packs + 4 handheld games) out on the market. And today, we are going to rate the game from the worst to the best!

Note that to provide a more comprehensive and proper review, we have only included the top 5 of the main series games in this listicle article. We can exclude GTA 1 and GTA 2 from the list as they are visually different from very different graphics. But no one can deny their contribution to this super fun series.

5) GTA 3

After GTA 2, this game comes with a very different approach to open-world games. The way developers design the city, missions, and other graphics is engaging for the players. But the game has a few flaws. For instance, no pause menu map, small area, and the gritty atmosphere is a disturbing thing.

But overall, the game was able to have a good relationship with the gamers!

4) GTA 4

GTA 4 launched in 2008 is one of the best releases, but the game can improve by a few points if we compare it with ViceCity. With their Serbian Character, Niko, who comes to Liberty City for opportunities is where the game starts. Also, many gamers will always love the way the character was portrayed in the game.

Overall the game was good but, a few points can be improved.

Issues like occasional annoying pop-ups or lack of fun gameplay (as developers may have tried to make the game more realistically) can be modified to make the game a bit more appealing.

Even the MAP of GTA San Andreas is bigger than GTA 4 which was released after this game.

But overall, it’s worth playing this game!

3) GTA: Vice City

Tommy Vercetti is the protagonist of the game created by Rockstar North. Vice City has more colours in the game, which makes it an upgrade to GTA 4. The missions to capture the underworld of the city has a pretty impressive story. The loyalty and intelligent mind of Tommy Vercetti is also an addon of the game.

From buying hotels, factories, and even big mansions. You can do a lot in this game. We have ranked it over GTA 3 because it allows you to get involved in the more formidable missions, a variety of weapons, and the most soothing thing – the soundtrack of the game.

Just roam around the city playing your favourite soundtrack.

2) GTA 5

We are giving an extensive comparison of GTA 5 and San Andreas to answer – Why GTA San Andreas ranks on the list?

Let’s conclude this article with an exact comparison of both the games:

GTA San Andreas vs GTA V

MAP: If we talk about San Andreas, then it has a vast map. It is the most extensive map in the entire GTA series. The map encompasses 3 big countries, countryside locations, long roads, and a lot more to roam around. From Elle to Las Vegas you can go wherever you want, but on the other hand, GTA 5 only offers Los Santos.

Weapons and Character Skills: Each weapon in San Andreas has 3 levels of skills, and you can reach the hitman level if you shoot better.

You can also train your character with skills like flying, stamina, driving, and a lot more. GTA 5 does not offer these many character skills.

Building Interiors: There are many options in GTA San Andreas. You can go inside the hotels, GYM, casinos, etc. But in GTA 5 the interiors are not that well created.

Mainstream missions: GTA San Andreas has 100 long main story missions as compared to GTA V, which only has 69 mainstream missions.

We can say that both games are remarkable. One should never miss the impressive graphics of GTA 5, but still, GTA San Andreas can be considered the best if we compare the overall playing experience of the game.
