The tournament organizer ESL, investigated the spectator bug exploit in CSGO by analyzing the matches and has issued bans to CSGO coaches for Team MiBR, Heroic and Hard Legion after consulting with ESIC and Valve.

Nature of the bug:

Use of bugs/glitches to own advantage is forbidden and violates section  “6.10.5 Use of Bugs and Glitches” of the ESL rulebook.

ESL identified abuse of the bugs by the following coaches:

  • Heroic, HUNDEN at DreamHack Masters Spring in 10 rounds on 1 map
  • MiBR, dead at ESL One Rio in 1 round on 1 map

ESL ruled out the following decision, after discussing with ESIC.

  • dead will receive a 6 month ban from playing or coaching in competition.
  • HUNDEN will receive a 12 month ban from playing or coaching in competition.
  • MechanoGun will receive a 24 month ban from playing or coaching in competition.
  • The teams will forfeit their ESL Pro Tour points from the tournament in question
  • The teams will forfeit their prize money from the tournament in question
  • The teams will retroactively be disqualified from the tournament in question

Other CSGO coaches that were aware of this bug but did not abuse the bug have not been issued any ban or punishment.

Following the ban, Alexander “MechanoGun” Bogatyrev(also known as zoneR) has been dismissed from his post as the team coach of Hard Legion.

Team Heroic is yet to take any decision regarding the situation, but are actively looking into the matter.

Coach dead has been issued an immediate suspension from team MiBR, while the team is investigating further into the matter.
