CD Projekt Red hopes to improve Cyberpunk 2077 and “successfully sell it for years to come”

CD Projekt Red will not give up on their latest sci-fi action RPG game Cyberpunk 2077 as the company aims to “successfully sell it for years“. In an interview with Reuters, Adam Kicinski, President / Joint CEO at CD PROJEKT talked about the state of the game and CD Projekt Red’s plans for the game.

I don’t see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077. We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come”, said Adam Kicinski.

Right after the game’s launch CDPR received heavy criticism for the bugs and glitches in the game, especially on PS4 and Xbox One. Since then CDPR has worked on fixing the game. Also, recently released the biggest patch for the game till date.

CDPR also recently cancelled their plans to develop a stand-alone multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077. Kicinski said that the format is more risky for the company as it has mainly focused on single-player games till now.

Kicinski also talked about the company’s plans to work on two high-budget(possibly AAA) games in 2022 and beyond. The company is looking for acquisition opportunities as it aims to bring a “fundamental” change to be able to develop two high-budget games in parallel starting 2022. One of these games could very well be Cyberpunk 2077 as they would need to bring a lot of content updates if they aim to keep the game alive.

Adam Kicinski has been in touch with Sony, after it removed the game from its store due to complaints of various bugs & glitches in the game. Kicinski said the new 1.2 patch was a step towards the game’s return to the PlayStation store. He also said that the company has “friendly relations” with Sony(Source: Reuters).
