Cargo ship stuck in the Suez Canal added to Microsoft Flight Simulator by modders
You can now see the cargo ship stuck in Suez Canal in Microsoft Flight Simulator thanks to the modding community.
Before we get to the mod, here’s some brief information for those that aren’t aware.
What is this about?
A cargo ship called Ever Given got accidentally stuck in the Suez Canal and now has blocked the entire trade route. The Suez canal is said to be one of the world’s busiest trade routes. 12% of total global trade is said to move through the Suez Canal. This blockage reportedly has cost the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) over $US14-15 million ($18.3-19.6 million) each day.
A Microsoft Flight Simulator mod by Zepingouin35 released on March 27 lets the players have a look at the cargo ship trapped in the Suez Canal which has slowed down the world trade. The mod shows a realistic representation of the ship in the game. (Source: PC Gamer)

Another more detailed mod by FlyBoyRez1 also shows the tug boats deployed to push & pull the ship to redirect it and the other cargo ships trapped in the canal due to Ever Given being stuck.
The ship being stuck is a little hilarious and has become a meme on the internet. It being a trending meme might have inspired the modders to add it in the game.
