Among Us 2 cancelled, but for good reason
In a blogpost on InnerSloth(publisher) site, the developers of Among Us stated, “We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1.”
Further stating, “All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1.“
Among Us is an online multiplayer social deduction game developed by InnerSloth in 2018. Despite being a 2018 game, ‘Among Us’ rose to popularity out of nowhere in 2020 and became one of the most popular games of the year.
The game that is memed as a ‘friendship-breaker’, has now become so popular that it is being played by every other streamer and content creator these days.
The developers had been working on developing a new sequel to the game for quite a while now and had a lot planned for the game, but decided to cancel the sequel and to work on Among Us 1. Due to the sudden rise to popularity of Among Us 1, the developers will be focusing on bringing the content planned for Among Us 2 to Among Us 1 instead.
But this won’t be easy at all. The codebase of Among Us 1 is outdated and not built to support the new planned content. The developers will have to dig deep and rework several parts of the core code of the game. This will require a lot of time and effort.
However, the amount of support Among Us 1 has received has fueled the developers to work on the game.
“We have lots of things planned and we’re excited to bring new content to everyone as you continue to enjoy playing!“, the developers said in the same blog post. It looks like the developers are really looking to put in lots of efforts to grow this game even more.

The devs are also working on a new stage which is going to be a Henry Stickmin themed location. Henry Stickmin is a point and point-and-click movie-game by PuffballsUnited, the same developer that works on Among Us.
Also at the end of the post, the devs added, “We have LOTS of other things planned too, we just need to prioritize and organize all our plans. Stay tuned!”
This shows that Among Us will receive a lot of content and other updates in the future.
