A new Days Gone mod makes the game more challenging by increasing horde sizes

Just recently Days Gone launched on the PC platform and to add to the excitement there’s already a new Days Gone mod that is making the game more challenging.

A user who goes by the name ‘Aigmir’, posted the mod on Nexus Mods. The mod increases the size for the hordes appearing in various places around the map. (Source: PCGamesN)

The modder also shared some screenshots and videos showcasing the same. Here’s one of them.

Now by watching the above video you must’ve realized exactly how difficult the game will get after installing the mod.

Various locations on the map are divided into 5 tiers having different size of hordes.

Here are the sizes of the hordes after the update:

  • Tier 1 ( Cascade Region ) 280 (boss horde – 320) Grotto Caves Horde
  • Tier 2 360 (Belknap Region) (boss horde – 400) Patjens Lakes Horde
  • Lost Lake Tier 3 (Lost Lake Region) 440 (boss horde – 480) Metolius Lava Cave Horde
  • Tier 4 (Highway 97 Region ) 520 (boss horde – 580)  Lobert Draw Ridge Horde
  • Tier 5 (Crater Lake Region ) 600 (boss horde – 670) Mt. Bailey Horde (Source: Mod description on Nexus mods)

As suggested by the modder, it’ll be better if you start the game anew instead of continuing from an existing save game, The reason being, as the story progresses, you will discover new hordes. If a player has discovered a horde prior to using the mod, the mod will not correctly function for that horde as the game has already deployed/spawned the horde. The mod cannot change the size of existing hordes. Even if you’re midway through the game, but haven’t encountered any hordes, the mod will work.

With the mod in use, you can 600+ swarmers in high tier zones such as Mt. Bailey.
