A fan has spotted the same dog in both the The Last of Us 1 & 2
A new detail in the Last of Us 2 has catched everyone’s attention. The Last of Us fans have once again spotted something similar across the two titles.
There are lots of easter eggs and call backs to other Naughty Dog titles in The Last of Us 1 & 2, but this one from The Last of Us 2 is something special. Apparently the dog that Ellie pets in The Last of Us 2 and the one that Joel pets in The Last of Us 1 is the same.
A reddit user who goes by the name ‘Woahruben’ recently posted on The Last of Us subreddit saying, “Today I learned that the dog Ellie pets in TLOU2 is the same dog Joel pets in TLOU1”. He also attached screenshots for comparison showing that it’s the same dog.

Now there are some visual differences, but that could just be because there’s a big time leap between the first and second encounter with the dog and also the fact that The Last of Us 2 has better graphics. It looks like the same dog, and is intentionally made a part of The Last of Us 2 as a callback to the original game. The dog is ‘Buckley’, named after The Last of Us voice actor Troy Baker’s deceased dog.
There still are a lot of hidden call backs and more in both the games that are yet to be discovered by the fans. Every few weeks new easter eggs, game theory, call backs, etc. are discovered and appear on the subreddit. For instance, recently it was also discovered that the bar from Uncharted 3’s first chapter is also in The Last of Us 1.
