Konami and Bloober Team announce “strategic partnership”
The Medium developer, Bloober Team today announced a “strategic partnership” with Konami.
For those that are unaware, Bloober Team is the developer behind horror games like The Medium, Blair Witch, Observer, Layers of Fear, etc. On the other hand, Konami is known for games like eFootball PES, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Contra and more.
Piotr Babieno, president of the Bloober Team said, “It is a historic day for me and the culmination of several years of our work. The fact that such a renowned company as KONAMI has decided to strategically cooperate with the Bloober Team means that we also joined the world leaders in gaming and became an equal partner for the leading players in this market”.
According to the partnership agreement, both partners have declared “cooperation in development of content” and will share “know-how” of development.
“We have been providing unique entertainment content and ways to enjoy it through the use of information technology. In the digital entertainment industry, significant changes in the business environment are expected in the future. We look forward to combining Bloober Team’s and our respective characteristics and strengths to create high-quality contents.” commented Hideki Hayakawa Representative Director, President Konami Digital Entertainment on the partnership. In the past Bloober Team had said that they are working on a horror IP with a “very famous publisher”. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz the Bloober Team president, Piotr Babieno said, “In fact, we’ve been working for more than a year on another gaming project, another horror IP, and we’re doing this with a very famous gaming publisher. I can’t tell you who. I can’t tell you what the project is, but I’m pretty sure when people realize we’re working on it, they will be very excited.“
Also there were rumors circulating that Konami is outsourcing Silent Hill development to third-party developers. This leads to the speculation that Bloober Team is working on Silent Hill.
