Release date for Ubisoft’s Werewolves Within movie revealed

In a recent announcement Ubisoft revealed the release date for its upcoming movie based on the VR game Werewolves Within. ‘Werewolves Within‘ is coming to theaters on June 25 & on digital platforms on July 2.

The plot takes place in a small town called Beaverfield. A group of residents get trapped inside a local inn during a snowstorm. A postal worker and a newly appointed sheriff now try maintaining peace while also attempting to uncover the truth behind a “mysterious creature” terrorizing the community.

We found a perfect home for our first independently produced feature with IFC,” said Jason Altman, Head of Ubisoft Film & Television. “Their enthusiasm, taste, and strategy in a complicated marketplace continues to impress us, and we can’t wait to bring this film to fans of the game and larger audiences alike.

Arianna Bocco, President at IFC Films, said, “’Werewolves Within’ is a wild and hilarious film adaptation of Ubisoft’s genius original game concept and we are so thrilled to bring this entertaining whodunnit to audiences this summer. Josh Ruben who arrived with ‘Scare Me,’ has assembled an incredible cast to bring his newest vision to light, and we’re sure it will leave audiences clutching their popcorn and howling from laughter.

Recently we have seen many big game developers and publishers take interest in making movies & web series around their popular games. The motive is obviously marketing their games to a wider audience. The best thing about such collaborations is that overall, it’s a win-win situation for both the parties.

The most recent one of such adaptations is DOTA: Dragon’s Blood a Netflix animated series based on Valve’s popular MOBA title which will be releasing March 25.

It’ll be interesting to see the response to Werewolves Within, how the fans react to the movie and compare it with the VR title, once it releases.
