Ghost of Tsushima sequel for PlayStation 5 possibly in development
A potential Ghost of Tsushima sequel might be in the works at developer Sucker Punch Productions. A LinkedIn about section might just have leaked it.
According to Comicbook, the LinkedIn page of Dave Molloy, Video / Cinematic Creative Director at Sucker Punch Productions, had a mention about Ghost of Tsushima on PS5. “Presently working on the Ghost of Tsushima game for Sony PS5.”, the about section of his LinkedIn profile page said.
Now however it looks like it has been changed to show “Presently working on the Ghost of Tsushima game for Sony PlayStation”. Molloy must’ve updated it after the news broke out.
Ghost of Tsushima is available for PS4 and can be played on PS5 only through backwards compatibility. Molloy’s profile specifically mentioned PS5, which hints at something being in the works behind the scenes. Does this mean it’s really happening?
Yes, probably. Sucker Punch could be working on a new sequel for the game following its success. The game sold over 5 million copies and also received positive reviews from the critics. The game overall turned out to be a big success for both Sucker Punch and PlayStation.
No doubt a Ghost of Tsushima sequel is coming, especially after the enormous success the game saw since it’s release back in July 2020. The only concern is that, less than a year from the game’s launch we are already seeing rumors and leaks about a sequel. It is unlikely that the sequel will be officially announced anytime soon, even though it might be in development.
There’s also a possibility that Sucker Punch might be working on a PS5 port for now, which also does make sense. The developer can optimize the game for PS5 and add better visuals and faster load speed.
Arguably one of the best PS5 features is the haptic feedback system. If Sucker Punch can work on some haptic feedback for the game, it will be the cherry on top. And, will also set the bar higher for the sequel.
