Twitch drops for Rust are coming soon
Yes, you will be able to receive Twitch drops for Rust soon. Rust is a survival game developed by Facepunch which recently rose to popularity.
The game is getting its first monthly update for 2021 on January 7th at 19:00 GMT/14:00 EST. The update will introduce some major changes to the game such as forced blueprint wipe & map wipe and Twitch drops.
Forced Blueprint Wipe:
A forced blueprint wipe will erase/deletes all the blueprints, inventory and other data.
Map Wipe:
A map wipe will remove all player made structures. Will not affect NPC bases, natural terrain of the map, etc.
Twitch drops:
The monthly update, which is releasing this week will also enable Twitch drops for Rust.
The game recently crossed 1 Million in concurrent viewership on Twitch.
It also registered its all time high concurrent player base with 134,483 concurrent players on Steam, according to SteamDB.
It looks like Facepunch wants to capitalize on the game’s recent surge in popularity by enabling Twitch drops to increase the engagement, further boost the viewership metrics and maintain the viewership numbers.
How to earn Twitch drops:
Twitch drops can be earned by watching Rust streams on Twitch that have “Drops enabled” mentioned. If the stream doesn’t mention it, you will not be able to earn drops by watching it.
Note: You will have to link your Twitch account to your Steam account in order to be eligible to receive drops.
How to activate Rust drops:
As mentioned before, you will have to link your Twitch account to your Steam account. Follow the below steps to do so.
Steps:
- Visit twitch.facepunch.com
- Sign in with your Twitch account
- Sign in with your Steam account
- Click on Activate Twitch Drops
- Click ‘Watch on Twitch’ and start watching to earn drops
