Rust tops a million peak viewers on twitch — thanks to dozens of big-time streamers!

Gaming is one of the acts that one can never get bored of. Multiplayer games clutch a vital audience for their collaborative nature of the gameplay. “Rust” belongs to the genre of the multiplayer-only survival video-game, since its inception in the year 2013. What makes the game compelling? is its random nature of the gameplay. The game comprises open-world threats of wild beasts that materialize real. The multiplayer nature gives a similar thrill that other battle royale games deliver.

Rust is reaching new heights in terms of concurrent viewership and concurrent player base in 2021. The game recently surpassed the 1 Million viewership mark on Twitch. Facepunch, the creator of Rust also acknowledged the rise in viewership and player base via Twitter.

The game also registered its all time high concurrent player base with 134,483 concurrent players playing the game (Source: SteamDB).

Why is the game seeing such a boost all of a sudden?, one might ask. The answer is simple yet a little surprising. OfflineTV, the group of popular content creators had set up a private server for Rust on December 27 and granted access to several big streamers. Soon big streaming personalities like Pokimane, Myth, Shroud, Sodapoppin, Disguised Toast and several others started playing together on the same server. And just like that with multiple big streamers playing together, Rust rose to popularity, similar to Among Us in 2020.

Steam, Twitch are some of the popular platforms amongst the gaming community. Such communities comprise a vital number of gamers who actively use these platforms. The multiplayer survival sandbox of Facepunch Studios has been amongst the top lists on Steam for all these years. And for any gamer Twitch can never be an unknown matter. Twitch is the most successful live streaming service that has all the popular stardoms streaming their gameplays on it.

As you can see in the above tweet, many big, as well as small streamers from the Hispanic communities, have also started playing the game together on a private server. They too have seen quite a big incline in viewership numbers.

Rust will soon be rolling out an update that will enable Twitch drops for the game, meaning viewers watching the game on Twitch will have a chance to win drops for the game.

Note: Viewers need to register and link their Twitch account to their Steam, and only then they will be eligible for the drops.

It looks like Facepunch has acknowledged the game’s boom to the popularity and is trying to capitalize on it by enabling Twitch drops to further increase the viewership and retain it once the big time streamers move on.
