The strategy/simulation video game ‘Dungeons’ has been making a mark in the minds of gamers for a decade. This series of video games are developed by Realmforge Studios and published by Kalypso Media. The first part of the series ‘Dungeons’ was released in early 2011, followed by its sequels ‘Dungeons 2’ in 2013 and then ‘Dungeons 3’ in 2017.

The Plot

The Dungeon Lord, who was dissatisfied after his conquest of the above lands, attempted to conquer a new world but failed due to the inability of his minions in building boats. The Dungeon Lord casts a spell that wakes up the wicked side of Thalya, a dark elf sorcerer, and gives the Dungeon Lord the power to control her. Thalya lets her dark side take over her mind and/after she slaughters the people.

Henceforth, she accepts the Dungeon Lord as the chief lieutenant and begins serving him. She starts on her quest to take revenge on Tanos, a good paladin who earlier attempted to cure Thalya’s inner darkness so she could see the good rather than the bad.

Gameplay

Dungeon 3 gives the flexibility of either playing on single-player mode or multiplayer mode. In single-player mode, one can follow Thalya, who was ordered by the Dungeon Lord to conquer the continent where she resides. Her quest involves many obstacles that require Thalya to use her power to fight every single one of them and take up as many lands as possible. In the multiplayer mode, the players can either collaborate or compete against each other to play this comprehensive story campaign.

The elements of real-time strategy merged with dungeon building makes the game quite attractive. Players will be tasked with building an underground dungeon with creatures crawling and protecting their dungeons from attacks. The players can also transfer creatures to the world above where they can take possession of their units.
