Oppo Find X2 PRO – Totally Worth Buying

The Oppo Find X2 is a powerful smartphone which is capable of handling all your gaming as well as general purpose and multimedia needs.

The phone comes with a 6.7”OLED curved screen with upto 120hz QHD+ display that supports HDR10+. This phone allows you to switch to 120Hz refresh rate while still using the Quad HD+, which is something  you don’t see in every other phone.

60 Hz v 120 Hz

The ability to run the phone at 120Hz even with a high resolution will definitely give you an edge over your competition in competitive shooter games.

Find X2 Pro uses ‘O1 Ultra Vision Engine’, a hardware-based technology that helps users to enjoy higher quality videos at all times.

It utilizes a microchip that optimizes image and video quality in such a way that you can experience your normal SDR quality videos in HDR. It adds more colors and shows smaller details in the video. The Video motion enhancement adds frames between existing frames to increase the framerate. making the video look more fluid and clearer. The technology is really useful when you’re watching videos that are shot in low light or have uneven framerate.

The brightness levels are pretty good too, The max brightness level is bright enough, so you won’t face any problems viewing the screen when outside.

The phone comes in 2 color variants, Ceramic(Black) and Vegan Leather (Orange) variants.

The Vegan Leather variant gives you the premium and unique feel of a real leather. A color variant that not only looks different, but also feels different, something that you won’t see many brands featuring with their phones. It is important to know, ‘Vegan Leather’ is just a fancy name for synthetic leather(artificial leather).

The 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM will ensure you never run out of memory while playing your games at the highest settings.

The phone comes with 512 GB storage based on UFS 3.0 technology. It doesn’t support external storage which means there’s no option for expanding the storage, but you probably won’t need to expand as 512 GB is enough for majority users.

Oppo Find X2 has 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Octa-core processor with upto 2.84Ghz and Adreno 650 GPU and it also supports 5G network technology.

Thanks to the  superb processing power and strong RAM, you can even stream your games seamlessly while playing.

The phone has Android 10(Android Q) OS and ColorOS 7.1 which is a vast improvement as compared to ColorOS 6 and 7. Also, the phone is likely to receive the Android 11 update very soon.

The phone comes with a strong and lasting 4260 mAh battery and a monster 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charger ensures fast charging. The phone can charge upto 100% in just 30-35 mins, even though Oppo themselves have estimated more 38 mins.

At the rear you will find a triple camera setup with a 48 MP wide angle camera with a Sony IMX 689 sensor and a f/1.7 lens for the primary camera, a 13MP periscope telephoto lens with f/3.0 aperture and a 48MP ultra wide camera with f/2.2 aperture, upto 120 degrees field of view and ultra macro mode. The phone features both OIS(optical image stabilization) and EIS(electronic image stabilization) and has a fast and reliable auto focus. The ultra stability mode does its job really well and far better than the standard stability mode. Also, there’s upto 10x hybrid zoom that uses the periscope telephoto lens to capture close up shots if your photo subject is really far or tiny.

At the front there’s a 32 MP camera punch-hole camera with f/2.4 aperture. The punch-hole camera allows the phone to have a notchless display which improves the phone’s borderless display utilization and the overall look.

Daylight shots are excellent, but low light shooting isn’t very good, but isn’t the worst either.

The front facing camera is all right. You can see that the AI adds a fair amount of color vibrance to the selfie images to make them look better.

The phone’s rear camera supports recording at 4K with upto 60fps while the front camera can upto 1080p at 30fps. The phone comes with 3 microphones that can capture 360 degree surround sound. You can also make it focus on your video subject which will amplify the subject’s voice and block out all surrounding noise. You can use the phone for vlogging as the video recording experience is quite good with this phone.

Overall the rear triple camera setup does a really good job but the front facing camera might need some improvements.

The phone has stereo speakers meaning the phone has a speaker at both the top and bottom that won’t let you compromise for the audio while watching videos or streaming movies. The stereo speaker means  you won’t have to worry about bad sound imaging of enemy’s footsteps while playing games like COD Mobile, Free Fire and PUBG Mobile without earphones, at least as compared to phones without stereo speakers.

The phone comes with an in screen fingerprint scanner that reportedly has a 91% slimmer scanner module and a 10% larger scanning area as compared to the Oppo Reno 2. The fingerprint scanner and face unlock work smoothly and there’s nothing to complain about in that area.

Talking about complaining, there are a few things that we don’t like about this device.

Find X2 comes with an IP68 certification which means the phone can withstand a lot more than some water splashes and rain, perhaps the phone will work even under water, but to a certain extent so don’t try to expose it to heavy rain or put it in water to try and test it on your own.

The phone doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack which means you will need to use a type C to 3.5 mm connector if you are still using traditional earphones/headset.

Price is higher as compared to the competition, and should’ve been aggressive.

Inside the box:

The phone comes with Charger(Type C cable + Adapter), a sim ejector tool, a phone case, earphones and other documentation(Warranty, User Manual, etc).

Our Take: This is a really powerful smartphone that is capable of running all mobile games with high settings thanks to its specification. Totally worth buying. The pricing should’ve been a little more aggressive.
