Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Cross Play Beta update: New game mode, new maps and double XP
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been in beta for over a week now and the crossplay beta just began yesterday on October 15 with a new update.
Let’s hover over some important additions to the game.
Fireteam: Dirty Bomb
A new mode called ‘Fireteam: Dirty Bomb’ was added to the game. Fireteam is a massive multiplayer mode where 10 teams of 4 i.e. a total of 40 players drop onto a large map. The objective for Dirty Bomb mode is to collect and deposit Uranium in “Dirty Bomb” that can wipe of big parts of the map due to the radiation. Fireteams have to eliminate their opposition detonate the dirty bombs to get lead their team to victory. You can earn scores by depositing Uranium, eliminating the enemies and detonating bombs. The Fireteam which reaches the score limit first wins.
New Maps:
The cross-play update has introduced two new maps, RUKA and ALPINE
Ruka is a map set with lush greenery, forests and trees. The nature will provide a perfect camouflage and hence a lot of risk for all teams. There are various locations across the map out of which one is a Spetsnaz training ground where you can find hidden bunkers, cabins and some obstacles too.
Alpine is a map set on a snow-covered mountain. The map provide a great tactical depth as players can either take long range engagements between the ski slopes or go for close quarter combat in the manmade structures scattered across the map.
Double XP:
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Beta will offer double XP throughout the crossplay Open Beta weekend
The game will offer 2XP and 2X Weapon XP for everyone throughout the cross-play open beta weekend.
Double XP will help players level-up their weapons faster which allows them to unlock and try more weapon attachments available. This is perfect time to introduce the double XP as more new weapons have been added to the beta and players that play the game during beta are going to get an interesting reward for launch.
Beta Reward:
Treyarch will also reward players for playing the beta with a new SMG Blueprint.
All players that reach level 10 during the beta will receive the “Mutual Animosity” SMG Weapon Blueprint with multiple unlocked and equippable attachments at launch.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a part of the Call of Duty franchise, it is developed by Treyarch and published by Activision.
The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on November 13, 2020.
