An optimized version of Destiny 2 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles this December. Bungie, The developers behind Destiny and Destiny 2 have announced that they will be optimizing Destiny 2 for the next-gen hardware.
The stars have aligned as Beyond Light launches alongside the next generation of consoles on Nov 10.

Destiny 2 will be a free upgrade for existing users that own the game on a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One.
Cross-generation play support will be available for Xbox and the PlayStation on November 10, basically at launch for both the next-gen consoles. The optimized version will be launching on December 8. You will also get faster load times on both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The update will also add FOV range to the game, which means you will be able to adjust your FOV to your preference. Many competitive games allow you to set FOV on PC, but their consoles versions just don’t have the feature. FOV stands for field of view and it allows you to set how big of an viewing angle you want. Treyarch recently also announced FOV slider for COD MW on consoles.
According to the article, the optimized version for Destiny 2 can run at 4K with upto 60 FPS on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The game will run at 1080p with 60 FPS on the Xbox Series S, which isn’t very impressive. That right there shows that getting a PlayStation 5 Digital for $100 more is a way better deal considering you’ll be using the console for years to come.
In the article developer Bungie says, “We’re excited for you to experience these enhancements for yourself and we’ll share more next generation details in the future.“ meaning there might be additional changes coming to the game that aren’t yet revealed.
