PM Modi encourages game development

In a virtual meeting to discuss ways to boost toy manufacturing in the country, PM Modi expressed his opinion about the rapidly growing gaming industry.

The meeting was held on Saturday (August 23rd), where Smriti Irani (Minister of Textiles) & Nitin Gadkari (Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) & were also present along with other officials.

In the meeting, PM Modi emphasized on the use of technology and innovation, and stated that the focus should be on manufacturing products that meet global standards.

PM Modi called toy making an excellent way to put further the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ which loosely translates to ‘United India, Strong India’.

While emphasizing on the fast-growing digital gaming arena, PM Modi said India should tap the huge potential in this area and lead the international gaming sector by developing games that are inspired from the Indian culture & folk tales.

He also expects the youth to come up with ideas for making toys that will reflect on the achievements and national prides.

Toys aligned with Indian culture and ethos should be used as pedagogical tools across all Anganwadi centres (Pre-schooling aimed at physical and mental growth of children between 3-6) and schools for all-round development of children, said Modi.

Seeing the recent launch of ‘Raji: An Ancient Epic‘ (A game with a rich storyline based around the Rajasthani culture, Indian mythologies & ancient lores), the timing couldn’t have been better for Indian game developers. With encouragement from the PM, the game developers will surely be more inclined to develop games based on Indian history and culture.
