In conversation with Sagar Nair, Co-Founder & CEO, Qlan

In his exclusive conversation with The Gamkng Reporter, Sagar Nair, Co-Founder & CEO, Qlan, a gamers’ social network, discussed on Qlan’s role in growth of esports in India, how does platform leverages AI & ML to connect the gaming community online, and how is it planning to stand against social media giants like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter.

The Gaming Reporter – The gaming market at present already has enough platforms for players to connect with the gaming community. What intrigued you to launch QLAN?

Sagar Nair – Qlan is built with a vision to create ease of discovery and empowerment of the grassroots of gaming and esports. The foundation of a Qlan is being built around the problems and needs of the gaming and esports ecosystem be it credible connections to make squads, a clutter breaking community for gaming creators, accessing a targeted audience for tournament organizers and more. What differentiates Qlan from existing platforms is the focus on not only connections but more so on the real value propositions beyond it.

The Gaming Reporter – Growing at an exceptional rate, Esports has become another past time in the Indian households. What role is Qlan playing to amplify the growth of the esports industry in India?

Sagar Nair – With the mass adoption of esports across India it has indeed become the go-to form of engagement or entertainment. While the fact is, that esports has grown beyond just a past time; it is now a legitimate career option for the youth of India. While athletes and creators lead the charge, the support silks that form the spine of the industry have also seen a massive surge. Qlan wants to recognize and facilitate opportunities to anyone looking to pave a path in the gaming and esports industry, the Qlan Jobs feature in development will make it a seamless process to scout and employ talent right from the grassroots.

The Gaming Reporter – Please shed light on how the platform caters to the needs of the online gaming community and how does it make use of AI & ML to connect the online gaming community?

Sagar Nair – Qlan harnesses the power of AI to match players with each other on the basis of various data points of their profile. Factors such as common games, same language, In-game roles, In-game stats, and more to find a perfect match for a player to game with and contribute to the creation of an esports squad. ML is leveraged to understand and gather data on user behaviour on points such as content consumption, searches, saved data, games selected, etc, and then use the data to personalize and enhance the experience of the Qlan community.

The Gaming Reporter – How is Qlan working to facilitate value exchange between endemic and non-endemic brands?

Sagar Nair – Gaming has emerged as the leading form of entertainment and engagement globally, even outdoing music and movies put together. Brands have followed suit in recognizing gaming and esports as the most effective medium to communicate with the GenZ and Millennials of today. Qlan is a growing and thriving community that is dominated by this very audience. Brands that want to reach out to this particular user base will be able to leverage the tech on the platform to create meaningful relationships in the most effective manner. Some of the identified engagement fronts include a dedicated gaming marketplace, native content, branded content and brand profiles.

The Gaming Reporter – What efforts is Qlan making to resolve some of the unattended issues of the gaming community?

Sagar Nair – Problem solving has been the very basis of Qlan’s existence. The features that you see on Qlan today are merely answers to the unanswered questions in the gaming and esports industry. The future will be no different; Qlan will adapt and cater to needs and problems of its community as the industry evolves. The key to which will be working closely with the audience from the ground up.

The Gaming Reporter – What are Qlan’s strategic plans to stand against social media giants like Instagram and Facebook?

Sagar Nair – Instagram and Facebook while being market leaders are still user agnostic platforms; they let their users explore multiple genres which limits the reach of content and discoverability of talent from a specific genre. Qlan on the other hand is very clear and fixated on the audience it intends to cater to and jointly, with feedback from our users are developing features that will enable us to carve our own niche as the Gamers’ Social Network.
